How to Sew Blankets, Cont'd |
With this method of sewing a reversible blanket, pin right sides of fabric together, leaving a space for turning right side out. I like to leave a large space between pins (as shown in the picture below on the right) to remind me where to start sewing. |

Sewing seam |
In the middle picture on the right, I'm beginning to sew the blanket seams with 3/8 inch seam allowance. When sewing to the corner, leave the needle in the fabric, raise the presser foot to check that seam allowances will be accurate, then turn the fabric, lower the presser foot and continue sewing down the other side. In the bottom picture on the right, I'm checking to make sure my seam allowance is accurate before pivoting to sew down the other side. |
(Sorry the picture is so light; my camera didn't want to cooperate!) |
